From the Horn-Book to the slate and chalk board; paperus and stylus to the steroscope, slide/ overhead projector; to the mimegraph, cardmaster and reading accelerator to the scantron, photocopier and scanner; adio visual aids and the computer and now digital tablets and android devices, the development of educational devices has come a long way. The predicted future would be the next step to cloud computing and virtual systems, perhaps an EveR4 or Meinü robot. But, these are predicted trends and may be unsustainable or may accelerate in progress, but still predictable. 
What has to be taken into account is the attitude of the changing generation of learners and their perspective of online learning and assessments.
